Glock 17 vs 346/7/2023 I would by no means cry about it if I were forced to carry the 34, but I don't think it offers many tangible benefits over the 17 as a duty weapon. I'm issued a Glock 22 and 35-I carry the 22 daily and shoot it just as well as the 35. I shoot a 34 for IDPA simply because they were out of the 17's when I bought it. The longer barrel of the 34 does sometimes require a taller front sight for the pistol to shoot POA/POI. connector on the blue label guns so that's a wash. The longer sight radius of the 34 is what allows some people to shoot it more accurately-although most people don't shoot well enough to be able to tell a difference between it and the 17. The 17 & 34 are probably almost identical in terms of mechanical accuracy. People often cite the 34 as being more accurate due to the 5.3" barrel. FWIW I would take the Glock 17 as a duty weapon.
